Scope and Contents

United Farm Workers organizing and boycott material including leaflets (mostly in Spanish, some in Arabic), brochures, pamphlets, clippings, organizers' autobiographical notes, correspondence, a calendar, convention documents, and texts of legislation (1974-1975). Also includes leaflets issued by Teamster Farm Worker Local 1973, and other anti-UFW material created by the Teamsters. In addition, the collection contains a transcription of an oral history of Jim Leap by Sarah Rabkin (2008), autobiographical notes of Claro Rundal (1981), Fred Abad (1982) and Noreen Sullivan.

Biography

Tom Dalzell worked with the United Farm Workers union from 1972 through 1980. Dalzell entered the UFW's legal apprenticeship program and in 1976 became the first UFW-sponsored candidate to pass the California State Bar exam. He is the business manager and financial secretary of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1245.
