Abstract

Sound recording of interview with UNITE HERE Local 2 member Feliz Fuentes conducted by Sarah Wilson. This recording is part of an oral history project documenting the historic 2004 hotel strike and lock-out in San Francisco that lasted 53 days. The struggle pitted a largely immigrant workforce against multi-national corporations which was part of a larger nationally coordinated contract campaign. Originally from Guatemala, Fuentes worked as a hiring hall coordinator for UNITE HERE Local 2. In his interview, Fuentes describes his experience as an employee in the Relief Assistance Office during the 2004 strike, providing aid to Local 2 members participating in the strike.
