Scope and Content of Collection
Sound recording of interview with UNITE HERE Local 2 member Gary Kozono conducted by Bob Owen. This recording is part of an oral history project documenting the historic 2004 hotel strike and lock-out in San Francisco that lasted 53 days. The struggle pitted a largely immigrant workforce against multi-national corporations which was part of a larger nationally coordinated contract campaign. KaIn his interview, Kazono describes his experience of the 2004-2006 contact compaign, including his time on the picket line and the Four Seasons' response to the strike-lockout.
