Ballad of Polly Ann Oral History Interviews

Scope and Contents

Oral history interviews documenting the experience of construction trades women who worked on Bay Area bridges beginning in the 1970s. The interviews were conducted by Harvey Schwartz for the Ballad of Polly Ann Project, a performance art production by Flyaway Productions. The six interviewees are Joyce Harris, Audrey Hudson, Violent Henderson, Silvia Ledezma, Kristi Tuemmler, and Heather Theune. 13 audio cassette tapes and 1 audio CD.

Abstract The Frank Bardacke Watsonville Canneries Strike Collection consists of materials collected by Bardacke, one of the founders of the Watsonville chapter of Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) and a resident of that community since the early 1970s, who was actively involved with the support committee for the striking cannery workers. It is largely comprised of newspaper clippings, mainly from the Watsonville Register-Pajaronian, leaflets, and newsletters....
