This collection covers the activities of San Francisco State University Professor Arthur K. Bierman for the years 1957 through 1984, and includes Bierman's early organizing for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), his involvement in the 1968-1969 strike at San Francisco State College, his work to abolish the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC), and other efforts in the field of civil liberties.
