 Series
Identifier: Series 2

Scope and Contents

Series 2, containing photographic prints, is arranged into two sub-series: the United Farm Workers series and the Farm Worker Life and Conditions series. The UFW series photographs were taken from 1972 to 1975 when Fietinghoff was on staff of the UFW and contain images of strikes, marches, boycotts, picketing, demonstrations, campaigning, and working in the fields. Contains photos of places and events, such as UFW headquarters and properties La Paz in Keene, and Forty Acres and Agbayani Village in Delano; Cesar Chavez's fast at Santa Rita Hall in Arizona; and Yemeni UFW organizer Nagi Daifullah's funeral. Also consists of images of major figures and supporters of the UFW. The Farm Worker Life and Conditions series photographs are the product of a 1977 personal project of Fietinghoff's, one that took her on a road trip through the Central Valley to document the working and living conditions of farmworkers. The Photographs series contains some images by other photographers. There is a designated folder of photos by Rick Tejada-Flores as well as a few photos interspersed throughout Sub-Series 2:1. In addition, Sub-Series 2:1 contains photographs by filipino UFW photographer Sebastian Sahugan and Bill Ravensi. Original folder groupings of material were left intact and do not necessarily reflect consecutive order. Similar material is dispersed throughout the folders of each series.
