Women Work, Women Vote, 1944 August
Scope and Contents
Consists of a collection of cartoons and illustrations created by artist Stanley Koppel. Materials include flyers and newsletters for Painters Local 4 (San Francisco) and the Rank and File Club of Local 892 (NY); issues of The Marker, a rank and file newsletter for members of the San Francisco Building Trades Council (1951); anti-Vietnam war labor leaflets and stationary designs; Communist Party publications; and various other printed materials.
Materials related to Koppel's work as an artist include press clippings from the exhibit Das Andere Amerika (The Other America) in West Germany in 1983, and an exhibition brochure for the first Veteran Artists League exhibition at ACA Gallery in New York, NY.
The collection also includes calendars issued by the Graphic Arts Workshop featuring examples of Koppel's woodcuts, etchings, and aquatints (1954-1977); an exhibit brochure for the Graphics Against War exhibit (1987); and publications collected by Koppel including WWII publication, Women Work, Women Vote, and several issues of Photo-History.
