Scope and Contents

This series contains the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Mike Gold, Mike and Elizabeth Gold, and of Elizabeth (Boussous) Granich Humeston. Types of correspondence include telegrams, postcards, personal and professional letters.

Correspondence related to literary publishing is located in Series 1, Subseries 1.9: Publishing Materials and Correspondence. Correspondence related to the Granich Family, such as correspondence with Mike Gold's children, Nick and Carl, or addressed to the Granich Family, is included in Series 3, Subseries 3.3: Family Papers.

Arranged into three subseries: Subseries 2.1: Mike Gold Correspondence; Subseries 2.2: Mike Gold and Elizabeth Correspondence; and Subseries 2.3: Elizabeth Granich Correspondence.

The correspondence is arranged aphabetically by individual, with priority given to letters between Mike and Elizabeth Granich, which are listed first. Subsequent correspondence is organized alphabetically by sender, followed by time periods that group letters from various correspondents.
