Prop 186 - Yes Campaign and N2N Campaign for Health Security Card Neighbor-to-Neighbor, 1992
Scope and Contents
Materials here pertain to the non-union organizations Tim was involved in and in some cases, subjects or causes he supported. The folders are arranged in alphabetical order by organization name/subject. The folders for non-union organizations include correspondence, meeting minutes, pamphlets and notes going back to the 1960s. Among these are ACORN, ACOSA, AIWA, BAOC, CAL, CFJ, CLUW, IHSS, NASW, NEA, PECC, OWL, The Rockin' Solidarity Chorus, Senior Action, Senior Power, and the Western Workers Labor Heritage Festival, as well as “California Working,” a television show on worker lives and rights. This series also contains mostly printed materials and email correspondence of various political campaigns and activist events Tim attended and took part in. Many of these campaigns involved causes Tim supported, such as affirmative action, civil rights, the energy crisis of 2001, the war against poverty, health care, sweatshops, women’s rights, increase in minimum wage, welfare rights, and various prepositions such as Prop. 186, Prop. 187, and Prop. 209. Also included in this series are material relating to organizing including notes and articles written by Tim, as well as articles on how to organize, strategies to organize your community, where to find your picket supplies and teaching the organized model of unionism. Some of these organizing materials are from Tim’s work with Mike Miller for the Organizer Mailing, and some were collected, as his wife Nancy says, for a book that he had planned to write, but later decided against.
