Sound recording of interview with UNITE HERE Local 2 member Lorna Villanueva conducted by Corey Datz-Greenberg. This recording is part of an oral history project documenting the historic 2004 hotel strike and lock-out in San Francisco that lasted 53 days. The struggle pitted a largely immigrant workforce against multi-national corporations which was part of a larger nationally coordinated contract campaign. Villanueva served as a union shop steward and inspector at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. In her interview, Villanueva describes her experience as a member of the negotiation committee and her participation in rallies and other organizing tactics to maintain support for the contract negotiations following the end of the lockout.
