Scope and Contents
Includes photocopies of primary sources, articles, clippings, and notes relating to Longmore's research in disability studies. The content of primary sources dates from 1698. Also includes a draft manuscript of Longmore's article “The League of the Physically Handicapped and the Great Depression: A Case Study in the New Disability History" and a draft manuscript of Longmore's telethons research.
Significant topics include the portrayal of people with disabilities in the media, the assisted suicide debate, education, polio, telethons, veterans, and the development of disabilities studies curricula and course syllabi.
This sub-series also contains draft and pre-publication manuscripts by disability studies scholars; academic theses and dissertations; and student papers. Copyright for these documents has not been assigned to the University Archives. All requests for permission to publish or quote from materials must be submitted in writing to the Director of the Archives. Permission for publication is given on behalf of the University Archives as the owner of the physical items and is not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained by the reader.

Availability
Collection is open for research. Access restrictions are placed on material with privacy issues for a specific time period from the date of creation. Access to personal correspondence from third parties is restricted for 20 years from the date of creation or until the death of the author, whichever occurs first, and will be further reviewed at that time. Restrictions are noted at the file level. Contact the University Archives staff for information on access to these files.
