The San Francisco State University television scripts collection features a selection of scripts and screenplays dating from 1928 to 1976. Some well known and among the oldest American television production companies and film studios are represented in the collection. Some scripts were written by San Francisco State University faculty Benjamin Draper.

The Television Scripts series contains instances of scripts of television plays and anthology series featuring made-for-tv-movies, many of which ran for more than one seasons and achieved considerable popular success. Several genres are represented in this series of the collection, including, but not limited to, western, drama, mystery, adventure, dramatized real-life contemporary events, documentary/news, fantasy, suspense and horror. Among some of the most noticeable series featured are: The ABC Movie of the Week (1969-1975), Armstrong's Circle Theatre (1950-1957), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955-1965), CBS Reports (1959-1990s), Have Gun - Will Travel (1957-1963), I Spy (1965-1968), That Girl (1966-1971), The Twilight Zone (1959-1964), Rawhide (1959-1965) and others.

The Film Scripts series contains instances of screenplays of films, including "Gone With the Wind", the 1939 film produced by David O. Selznick, adapted from the 1936 novel by Margaret Mitchell, that became the highest-earning film made up to that point.

The Radio Scripts and Miscellaneous series features instances of radio scripts including "Camille" by Matilda Heron, "Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde" by Robert L. Stevenson and the Sophocle's "Antigone". This series also contains treatments, finding aids, magazine articles, correspondence and other documents. The series includes 4 cartons of unsorted radio scripts and 1 carton of unsorted correspondence.
